4-Hers Celebrate Their Achievements!

Focus on 4-H

July & August 2014

June and July are busy months for 4-H clubs’ across the Island as members are hard at work putting the final touches on their projects in order to be ready for their club’s Achievement Days. Achievement Days are a time for clubs to come together to celebrate their achievements for the year and to share their finished projects with each other as well as with friends, family and their community. This year the members in Summerside and West Prince Districts have taken a wide variety of projects such as: timber sports, cake decorating, photography, woodworking, foods, basket weaving, archery, sheep, poultry, dairy, horse and pony, sewing, gardening, junior leadership, and more. We even had one member, Katie Smith, do a Pinterest project where she made a craft a month from the popular website!

Cold Weather 4-H Fun!
Focus on 4-H

February & March 2014

Dear Mother Nature has not pulled any punches this winter! However, while PEI has been experiences record breaking cold temperatures and snow falls these past few months, the 4-H members and leaders in the Summerside and West Prince Districts have shown that when life gives you lemons (and mountains and mountains of snow) you make lemon snow cones. ;-) All of the 4-H clubs in both Districts have been very busy these past two months with fun activities such as cake decorating, club parties, participating in the filming of a commercial for National Bank, decorating Valentine’s Day Boxes, and more! Welcome to 2014!

January 2014

Welcome to 2014!!! According to Chinese astrology, 2014 is the Year of the Wood Horse! It is a year for fast victories and unexpected adventure. It is an excellent year for travel, and the more far away and off the beaten path the better. So in the spirit of both the year of the Wood Horse and 4-H I challenge all PEI 4-H members and leaders to try something new and exciting this year, stretch your imagination, test your limits, make new friends, be daring, shine bright, and enjoy all that 2014 has to offer!

PEI 4-H is definitely in the adventurous spirit! They are already planning many new and exciting activities for our members in 2014. For example, the annual National 4-H Members’ Citizenship Seminar will be held on PEI this April as part of the PEI 2014 Celebrations, and PEI 4-H is launching a new event this May that will combine the Provincial Communications Competition, members’ scholarship and travel awards interviews, and work shops all into a one day event. Everyone is encouraged to keep an eye on the P.E.I. 4-H Facebook page and website for the most up to date information on all events, activities, and opportunities! Personally I am very excited to see what 2014 will bring for both PEI 4-H, and the West Prince and Summerside 4-H Districts. I have know doubts that this year will be great!
